Brand USA president and chief executive Fred Dixon is leaving to return to lead NYC Tourism + Conventions.
Dixon is going back to NYC Tourism + Conventions following more than two years at destination marketing organisation Brand USA.
A statement said: “His return brings together longtime experience promoting New York City with a broader national and global perspective on the evolving travel landscape.”
Dixon is to step down from Brand USA on November 13 and a search plan for his successor is already underway.
He previously served as president and chief executive of NYC Tourism + Conventions for a decade from 2014, where he became the leading voice for New York City’s visitor economy.
Dixon said: “Returning to lead NYC Tourism + Conventions is an extraordinary honour and responsibility.
“My time at Brand USA gave me a broader perspective on the global travel marketplace and what’s required to be competitive for international travelers.
“I return to New York with that experience, along with a renewed appreciation for the strength of this city and the extraordinary people and businesses that make its visitor economy so vital.
“I look forward to working with our members, partners and City leadership to grow visitation, strengthen our global position and ensure tourism continues to deliver for all five boroughs.”
Brand USA chairman Todd Davidson said: “We thank Fred for his extraordinary leadership over the past two-plus years and the significant momentum Brand USA has achieved during his tenure. We congratulate him on his return to NYC Tourism + Conventions and wish him continued success.
