Building work starts on new Club Med resort in St Croix

Building work has begun on a Club Med resort in St Croix, in the US Virgin Islands.

The all-inclusive resort operator said the 150-room Club Med St Croix is set to open in the fourth quarter of 2027 and marks the company’s return to US territory.

A ceremony to celebrate the start of building works was hosted by Stéphane Maquaire, president and chief executive of Club Med, and Carolyne Doyon, president and chief executive of Club Med North America and the Caribbean.

They were joined by leaders of the US Virgin Islands government and members of the territory’s 36th Legislature.

Doyon said: “St Croix is a destination we’ve long admired, and one that has welcomed us with open arms.

“Its beauty, culture and spirit are unlike anywhere else in the Caribbean, and we wanted to bring that to travellers through the kind of all-inclusive experience that only Club Med can create – one that is designed around genuine joy and connection, effortless ease, and a real sense of place.”

The all-suite resort is expected to create about 200 jobs, with an estimated 80% set to be filled by local people.

It will be part of Club Med’s Exclusive Collection and only the second in North America.

Designed for guests aged 12 and older, the resort will cater to leisure travellers, meetings and weddings.

It will also feature three dining venues, four bar and lounge spaces, an infinity pool, a spa and sports and recreation facilities.
