Carly Charteris returns from Doha for ‘new challenge’

Discover Qatar regional sales manager Carly Charteris is returning to the UK after three-and-a-half years with the Doha-based destination management division of Qatar Airways.

She left her role of national sales manager with Premier Holidays in December 2022 after a nine-year stint with the operator to join Discover Qatar.

Charteris announced on LinkedIn that it was “time to close the chapter on my time with Discover Qatar” and she is returning to the UK “with a new challenge”.

She paid tribute to her colleagues in Doha and thanked them, saying: “When I arrived in Doha, I knew I was embarking on an adventure that would challenge me, develop me and hopefully enrich my life. I don’t think I could have imagined just how much I would take away from the experience.

“From luxury hotels in an incredible destination to Formula 1, stopovers and some truly unforgettable travel experiences, I’ve had the privilege of working in a destination and an industry that I love, alongside colleagues and partners from all corners of the world.

“I’m incredibly proud of the relationships I’ve built, the business connections I’ve made and the opportunities I’ve had to represent Discover Qatar and showcase everything this remarkable destination has to offer.”

She continued: “I’m excited to be heading back to the UK and continuing my career in travel, with a new challenge, new opportunities and plenty more adventures ahead, but for now I’m taking a little time to rest and recharge.”

Charteris had joined Premier after four years as Global Travel Group business development manager. She has also worked for Travel Counsellors and Villa Plus.
