Contiki drops Swiss firm

CONTIKI has dropped the local adventure activities company in Switzerland that organised the canyoning trip near Interlaken where 19 people died.

Adventure World provided the extreme sport activities that 18-35s specialist operator Contiki offered its clients and is now under police investigation.

Contiki had 40 clients on the canyoning trip who were sent crashing down an Alpine gorge following a thunderstorm. Contiki sales director Gordon Dirker said: “This was a freak accident but we will wait to see what the investigation shows.”
