CT2 HOLIDAYS has dropped its national rate 0870 telephone lines in favour of local rate 0845 numbers after an industry-wide backlash from agents over high telephone charges (Travel Weekly June 4).
Philip Firth, sales and marketing director at the Manchester-based operator, previously called Club Travel 2000, believes the change will secure enough business to compensate for the loss of 0870 revenue.
Through using national rate 0870 numbers it is possible for a company to pocket as much as three pence a minute while the caller is on the phone.
