Delays at Heathrow because of stuck jet

A NUMBER of flights to and from Heathrow Airport have been delayed and cancelled because a Boeing 747 aircraft is stuck in mud off the northern runway.

The British Airways jet, which was returning from Boston, came off the runway when it landed at 7.30pm last night. Efforts to move the aircraft overnight were thwarted by bad weather.

The southern runway is still in operation.

A BA spokeswoman said it was not clear why the aircraft had left the runway but an investigation will take place. No one was hurt in the incident.
