An extension has been granted for the publication of the formal document for the £5.7 billion takeover of easyJet by US private equity giant Apollo.
The budget airline issued a London Stock Exchange statement today (Tuesday) to say the deadline had been extended.
The so-called ‘scheme document’ containing further information about the acquisition was originally due to be sent to easyJet shareholders within 28 days of the August 6 acquisition announcement.
However, the two companies said the deadline had been extended “in order to facilitate continuing constructive engagement with the relevant aviation regulators following the summer period”.
The document will now be published on or before October 15, they said.
The deal is still expected to complete by the end of the first quarter of 2027.
The announcement follows two unions seeking reassurances over jobs at easyJet, with Prospect calling for “greater transparency” about the long-term strategy for the carrier following the acquisition.
