Disney Cruise Line unveils fresh details for ship launching in 2027

Disney Cruise Line has revealed new details and images about its the upcoming Wish class ship Disney Believe, which will set sail in late 2027.

 

Moana will be the theme for the Grand Hall, Peter Pan’s Tinker Bell is the bow character, and Toy Story’s Woody and Buzz Lightyear will appear as the stern characters.

 

The cruise line also confirmed a new class of ships will debut in 2029.

 

Disney Cruise Line revealed last year that it is expanding its fleet to 13 over the coming years.

 

The Disney Believe will be the fourth ship in the Wish class and it will be followed by three ships in a new class.

 

The new class ships will be positioned in size between Disney’s classic ships and its newer vessels – bigger than the Disney Wonder, but smaller than the Disney Wish.

 

The cruise line updates were announced along with other Disney developments during D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event.

 

Disneyland Paris will see its first Lion King-themed attraction, which is currently being built at Disney Adventure World.

 

The new water-based attraction will take visitors on a journey through scenes from The Lion King with characters such as Simba, Timon, Pumbaa and Scar.

Furthermore, Hyperspace Mountain will become Space Mountain: De la Terre à la Lune and there will be a new daytime parade in 2028.

 

Christophe Murphy, president of Disneyland Paris, said: “From a vibrant daytime parade and a classic comeback for Space Mountain in Disneyland Park to the continued development of a themed area inspired by The Lion King in Disney Adventure World, we are investing in the stories our guests love while continuing to evolve what a Disney visit can be.”

 

Meanwhile, at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, a new area called Villains Land is planned for the Magic Kingdom.

 

It includes a rollercoaster themed on Maleficent and a ride hosted by the Magic Mirror featuring a range of villains.

 

The Cars expansion at Magic Kingdom will feature attractions called Cars Ridge Run Rally and Miss Fritter’s Daredevil Spin-Along.

 

Other announcements included an animatronic model of Harrison Ford for the Indiana Jones Ride at Animal Kingdom, which will be in the new land of Tropical Americas.

 

Parts of Monstropolis will open to guests in 2027, with a new show at the Glob Theatre, titled Welcome to Monstropolis, hosted by Mike and Sulley from Monsters Inc.

 

At Epcot, Spaceship Earth will be updated for the first time in nearly 20 years, bringing the attraction into the internet age.
