EasyJet claims record daily carryings at end of bank holiday

EasyJet operated the busiest day in its history with more than 343,000 passengers flown on 2,000 flights across the budget airline’s network.

More than 196,000 passengers flew to or from UK airports on over 1,100 flights, marking another milestone for the airline on a single day on August bank holiday Monday. 

The record comes as easyJet operates its largest summer schedule with eight additional Airbus A320 family aircraft joining its UK-based fleet at Bristol, Newcastle, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool and Glasgow airports, as well as the introduction of a base at Newcastle earlier this year. 

More than 39 million seats are on offer to and from the UK across the summer season, 500,000 more than last year, while 53 new routes have been introduced, including more options to destinations such as Turkey, Egypt, Tunisia and Morocco. 

Many travellers made the most of the bank holiday weekend to take last-minute trips, with Palma, Faro, Alicante and Milan among the most popular destinations.

Palma, Tenerife and Rhodes were among the top destinations for easyJet holidays packages over the long weekend.
