EasyJet deploys ninth aircraft to Liverpool airport for next summer

EasyJet is to deploy a ninth aircraft from Liverpool airport next summer.

The additional Airbus A320 follows the budget airline announcing new routes to Lisbon and Paphos last week as part of wider UK expansion.

The carrier cemented its position as Liverpool’s largest airline by carrying more than 2.3 million passengers in its 2025 financial year.

The fleet expansion on Merseyside came as easyJet reported a 9% rise in annual pre-tax profits to £665 million.

EasyJet holidays beach packages to Majorca, Alicante and Tenerife were the top destinations for holidaymakers from Liverpool this year with Amsterdam, Paris and Prague the most popular for city break packages.

Ten new routes from Liverpool have been added in the past 12 months, including Malta, Fuerteventura, Prague, Berlin, Marrakesh, City of Derry, Sharm el Sheikh, Split, Lisbon and Paphos. 

The airline is now operating 39 routes to 17 countries from Liverpool to destinations across Europe and North Africa.

UK country manager Kevin Doyle said: “Our success in the northwest is a clear testament to the continued popularity of our flights and holidays, with 2.7 million customers choosing to fly with us this year for our trusted brand, unrivalled network and great value fares.

“The growth of our fleet with an additional aircraft in Liverpool will not only support around 400 jobs but is enabling us to further unlock the opportunity of the demand that we see for both leisure and business travel.

“We are already capturing this opportunity with the launch of two new routes from next summer to offer customers greater choice and exceptional value across our unrivalled short-haul network, and in our 30th year, still aiming to make travel easy.”

The airline also announced an additional aircraft at Manchester airport for summer 2026, taking its total to 24, as well as a seventh aircraft at Glasgow airport
