EC to review latest air passenger duty rise

The European Commission is to review changes to air passenger duty due from November 2009.

The changes affect flights from the UK, and will introduce tiered rates of duty, bringing a sharp rise in APD on long-haul flights.

Flights to the eastern Mediterranean and North Africa will also be penalised.

The EC has written to the government requesting further information.
