Tour operator Epic Travel has appointed Tom Smith, formerly of Intrepid Travel, as global managing director in a bid to achieve further growth.
The adventure travel and events specialist, which currently operates in southern Europe and Africa, is aiming to add to the range of destinations it offers.
Smith has worked in the travel sector for 14 years, with his 11-year tenure at Intrepid Travel including experience as general manager for Central America and Mexico.
He said: “I’m thrilled to be joining Epic Travel at such an exciting time for the business.
“The company has built a strong, 20-year legacy of delivering exceptional, high-end adventurous experiences, and I look forward to working with the talented team to expand that to more destinations than ever before, giving more customers truly epic experiences around the world.”
Epic Travel said Smith will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the business, leading strategic development, delivering commercial success, driving operational excellence and strengthening partner relationships.
Founder Charlie Shepherd said: “We are delighted to welcome Tom to Epic.
“Tom stood out immediately for his energy, global perspective and consistent track record of delivering growth.
“Just as important is his instinctive, people-first leadership style, which is central to how we operate at Epic. We’re excited about what we’ll build together.”
