Eurotunnel faces High Court action over BAA losses

BAA is seeking £10.3m from Eurotunnel after running up losses from managing the cross-Channel operator's retail business.

 

Heathrow's owner is also seeking the end of its 15-year retail contract with Eurotunnel.

 

BAA claims Eurotunnel misrepresented the deal from when it was agreed last July. Eurotunnel has vowed to fight the High Court action and start a counter-claim for damages. BAA took over the Eurotunnel retail contract just after duty-free sales stopped. In response, Eurotunnel raised fares which contributed to a fall in passengers.
