Ex-Lloyds Bank chief economist joins speaker line-up for Travel Weekly conference

Former Lloyds Bank chief economist Professor Trevor Williams will assess the global geopolitical and economic outlook and its impact on travel as guest speaker at Travel Weekly’s Future of Travel Conference in September.

Williams will join a host of senior travel industry executives on the line-up for the event, which takes place in partnership with long-term partner Google in London on Thursday, September 11.

Other confirmed speakers include Hays Travel owner Dame Irene Hays; Jet2 chief executive Steve Heapy; easyJet holidays chief executive Garry Wilson; Tui UK & Ireland managing director Neil Swanson; dnata Travel Group chief executive Lesley Rollo; and Fred Olsen Cruise Lines chief executive Samantha Stimpson.

Professor Williams will appear courtesy of Seabourn and will analyse the key trends and policies that are shaping global financial markets and impacting businesses.

Prior to his time at Lloyds, Williams worked for the civil service before going on to work as an economist in the City for more than 30 years.

He now rotates as the chair of the Institute of Economic Affairs’ shadow monetary policy committee, monitoring the Bank of England’s decisions and direction of travel.
