Flights diverted after bomb threats

Police were called to the scene to investigate after the aircraft landed safely.

The 232 passengers and 15 crew on board were evacuated from the aircraft.

The latest incident followed a Condor flight from Berlin to Hurghada in Egypt having to make an emergency landing in Budapest in another bomb alert.

The 133 passengers and luggage on the Airbus A321 were searched but the incident was discovered to have been a false alarm.

The Thomas Cook-owned German airline said it had received an “unspecified threat” by telephone, according to local reports.

A police spokeswoman in the Hungarian capital told Reuters: “Police have finished the search and have not found any explosives or explosive devices.”

Another aircraft was flown out to Budapest to take the passengers on to the Egyptian resort. 

The incident came a month after the downing of a Russian  Metrojet Airbus A321 in a suspected terrorist bombing after it left Sharm el-Sheikh on October 31, killing all 224 people on board.
