The Grenada Tourism Authority has appointed Meryem Bennouna to the newly created role of UK sales director.
She joins the tourist board following a two-year tenure as director of UK, Ireland and the Nordics for the Moroccan National Tourism Office (MNTO), where she developed destination sales strategies, managed travel trade partnerships, and led B2B sales and marketing initiatives across key source markets.
Following a two-week island immersion – where she familiarised herself with Grenada’s hotels, attractions and visitor experiences, alongside meetings with key local stakeholders and tourism partners – Bennouna has returned to the UK to execute her role.
Stacey Liburd, chief executive of Grenada Tourism Authority, said: “Meryem’s appointment comes at a pivotal time for Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique in the UK market.
“Her track record of growing visitor numbers and strengthening trade and airline partnerships speak for itself, and her experience will be invaluable as we build on the momentum we’ve already created here.
“We are delighted to welcome her to the team and look forward to the energy and experience she brings to our next stage of growth in the UK.”
Before the MNTO, Bennouna managed the travel trade segment for a luxury hotel cluster in London, cultivating relationships with travel advisors, wholesalers and key industry stakeholders.
Bennouna added: “I’m thrilled to be a member of the Grenada Tourism Authority team at such an exciting time for the destination.
“Grenada has so much to offer the UK market, and I can’t wait to continue to build on the relationships already in place and help even more travellers discover the island, and its sister islands Carriacou and Petite Martinique.”
UK arrivals to Grenada are up 14% year on year for Q2 2026, and market share has grown by 17%.
Bennouna is tasked with increasing these numbers, in collaboration with Grenada Tourism Authority’s PR agency, The PC Agency, and trade marketing agency, Black Diamond.
