Guide to calm safety fears

THE EUROPEAN Commission has launched a draft regulation aimed at setting up a European Aviation Safety Agency.

The move follows the growth in air traffic and rising public concern over airline delays and fares.

EC vice-president for transport and energy Loyola de Palacio said: "The European Union will at last have the means to conduct a genuine aviation policy.”
