Hurtigruten’s MS Vesterålen returns to service after renovation

Hurtigruten’s MS Vesterålen has returned to service following an extensive renovation.

The refit introduced Arctic Superior and Mini Suite cabin categories on board, alongside upgrades to 100 existing cabins and several public areas.

The smallest ship in the Norwegian coastal specialist’s fleet will also offer new onboard concepts that lean into its 133-year history.

These include menus inspired by the 1930s, tributes to generations of ships and crew, coastal artwork and redesigned crew uniforms.

MS Vesterålen will operate year-round sailings on the line’s iconic Original Coastal Express route between Bergen and Kirkenes.

Chief executive Hedda Felin said: “With MS Vesterålen back in service, it is not just a ship being put back into operation. It is living history with strong traditions being given new life.

“Vesterålen offers a completely unique travel experience, both for those living on the Norwegian coast and international tourists.”
