Yorkshire agency Idle Travel is set to open a second shop after 41 years in business, with owner Tony Mann ready to accept a “new challenge”.
The Bradford agency received the maximum £10,000 from Jet2holidays in the operator’s ’Scale Up Your Street’ competition yesterday (June 11).
Outlining the reasons for opening a second shop, he said: “I think it’s an opportunity for me to leave a different legacy and it’s an opportunity we can’t turn down.”
The Jet2holidays competition in Leeds heard pitches from 12 agencies looking for marketing support for opening an additional shop. A total of 118 entries were received.
Mann, whose Bradford business opened in 1984, said the funding would be used to “market the new shop to death”.
He said: “We’ve never had a second shop. We’ve had opportunities to expand, but this felt like the right time with my daughter Jodie and it’s important to my family.
“My grandson is also an apprentice but we’ve also got a fantastically strong team and it’s a new challenge for me.”
He added he had earmarked “a couple” of locations for the new store, adding: “We want to open as quickly as possible.”
