Intrepid Travel doubles accommodation portfolio 

Intrepid Travel has acquired two new properties in a new strategy aiming to create a portfolio of ‘boutique’ accommodation experiences.

A 17-room Riad in Marrakech, Morocco and the 20-room Edge of the Bay resort in Tasmania, Australia have been confirmed as the first pair of properties.  

The two additions see Intrepid’s accommodation offerings double to four. The operator purchased the Daintree Ecolodge in Tropical North Queensland in 2023 (pictured) and has a multi-year lease on a hotel in Hoi An in Vietnam. 

The company has plans to expand to 20 properties worldwide in the next three years.  

Intrepid’s new traditional Moroccan guesthouse was acquired from a private owner and Intrepid will fully operate it from July. 

The Edge of the Bay property is located in Coles Bay on Tasmania’s Freycinet Peninsula and sits on 18 acres of land with views over Wineglass Bay. The property was established in 1980 by Jill and Ray Johnston and the family has operated it since then. 

The properties, which can be booked independently of Intrepid tours, will be responsibly operated.
