Sanjay Thudasama, marketing officer, Hong Kong Tourist Association

 

First travel job: Sanjay's father, a veteran of the travel industry with 45 years experience, encouraged his son to enter the industry. Sanjay joined the HKTA in 1980 on a Youth Training Scheme. After the year-long scheme, the association offered him a permanent job.

 

Advice for people wishing to develop a career in travel: "I would highly recommend that people in the industry travel more. Travelling allows consultants to learn more about a destination. Once travel agents have seen a place they can sell it so much better and can encourage clients through first-hand experience.”
