Well-known industry figure Julie Kendrick is to leave Hays Travel-owned Spear Travels Group on Thursday (May 28) after nearly seven years.
Kendrick announced her departure in a letter to supplier partners and confirmed Guy Fletcher, sales and marketing director of sister brand Millington Travel, will take up a new role of brands commercial manager and will be the new point of contact for the trade.
Kendrick, formerly Midcounties Co-operative Travel head of commercial and marketing, was appointed to the new role of group commercial and operations manager at Spear Travels in December 2019. Prior to that, she spent 21 years with the Co-operative Travel Trading Group.
Paying tribute to her tenure, Hays Travel chief operating officer Jonathon Woodall-Johnston said: “Julie agreed to stay on for 12 months after our acquisition of Spear Travels in June and we are very grateful for her support and guidance over the last year.
“We are naturally sad to see her go and wish her an enjoyable summer with her family.”
Spear Travels’ 12 branches and its homeworking division were bought by Hays Travel in June 2025.
The move comes as Spear celebrates the reopening of its Skipton branch following a relocation to the centre of the North Yorkshire market town.
The changes also follow the recent decision by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) to clear Hays Travel’s acquisitions of Polka Dot Travel and Millington Travel.
