TRAVEL industry charity Just a Drop is embarking on its biggest-ever fundraising event with a sponsored walk of the Inca Trail.
Organisers are searching for 60 industry volunteers to take part in the trek, which will take place between April 30 and May 9 next year, finishing at the lost city of Machu Picchu.
Just a Drop founder and World Travel Market group exhibition director Fiona Jeffery said: “This is a chance for all those deskbound executives to get out of their chairs and get healthy, as well as raise money for a really good industry cause.”
The trip is being organised by the Salisbury-based experienced adventure and charity walk specialist tour company Discover Adventure, and the cost to take part is a minimum £2,500.
Walkers will be encouraged to contact friends, colleagues, contacts, suppliers and customers for sponsorship. The cost includes flights, transfers, accommodation, meals and porters on the trail.
Organisers hope to bring participants together for a briefing next January. Places will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis and their application needs to be
accompanied with a £250 non-refundable deposit no later than December 1.
Money raised will go towards providing clean water and sanitation programmes for children and their families around the world.
The launch of the Just a Drop Inca Trail Walk coincides with the launch of a website at www.justadrop.org which offers regularly updated information about the charity, its work and supporters.
