KLM flight makes emergency landing at Norwich

Ten fire engines were sent to the airport to meet the diverted flight from Manchester to Amsterdam Schiphol.

The Boeing 737 with 114 passengers on board made a normal landing, airport director Andrew Bell told the BBC.

Passengers disembarked safely and checks were then made to the aircraft.

Eighty of the passengers were put up in hotels overnight.

A full emergency was declared and the 737 landed just after 2.30pm yesterday.

A KLM spokesman said the aircraft had made a “precautionary landing because of unidentified fumes” and was being repaired.

The aircraft left for Amsterdam on Tuesday evening and would return to service today, he said.
