Leger Shearings Group has promoted Simon Bingley to commercial director on the back of 16 consecutive months of year-on-year growth for the escorted coach tours specialist.
Bingley, who joined the group as financial controller in October 2023, will take up a board position and help drive towards the target revenue of £100 million a year.
He said: “There is real momentum behind the business and I’m excited about where we can take it from here.”
Bingley will report to chief executive Liam Race and take responsibility for revenue, margin, pricing and channel performance, alongside financial planning and analysis, business performance and “key transformation programmes”.
The group said the latest figures show new business up 17% year on year, while bookings for the following year are nearly 25% ahead of the same point last year.
Race said: “I’m thrilled to see Simon step into the commercial director role, a position I held myself before becoming CEO and one that sits right at the heart of how this business grows.
“Simon has been instrumental to our success. Since joining in 2023, he has built a genuine strength in commercial finance and data-led decision making, and he has been a real enabler in delivering record profitability and performance that is running well ahead of our five-year strategic plan.”
He added: “The business is in excellent shape, and the transformation we’ve been driving across the group is really taking hold. Simon will be integral to keeping that momentum going.”
Bingley, a chartered accountant, was a senior finance business partner at DFS Furniture plc before joining Yorkshire-based Leger Shearings Group. He also previously held senior positions at Benchmark Holdings plc and Grant Thornton.
