Lightning Travel Recruitment has been acquired by HR firm Cape Consulting as part of plans to expand the agency’s remit across the wider travel sector.
Following the acquisition, Cape Consulting owners Mac Schimm and Franzi Schimm have been appointed directors of Lightning, while founder Thea Bardot steps into the role of lead talent consultant.
Founded in 2019 by Bardot, Lightning was established with a focus on luxury travel recruitment, headhunting, and building long-term personal relationships with candidates and clients.
Under its new ownership, Lightning will retain its core ethos but will broaden its reach to work with businesses across the wider travel industry, moving beyond its traditional luxury focus.
Powered by Cape Consulting, which provides strategic HR, talent retention, and outsourced people services for growing businesses, the agency will also add dedicated HR services alongside its existing recruitment and candidate support offerings.
Bardot said: “By aligning our reputation for excellence, unrivalled book of contacts, headhunting prowess and progressive stance on pay transparency with Cape Consulting’s extensive people and talent capabilities, we’re creating a powerhouse that can better serve the evolving needs of the travel industry.”
The agency added that its core recruitment team will remain in place, with the partnership designed to create a “joined-up support model” covering talent acquisition, staff retention, and operational frameworks.
Bardot will remain centrally involved in the business as lead talent consultant, continuing to focus on candidate representation and industry headhunting.
