Lincolnshire Co-op’s Louth travel agency branch has reopened after a £160K makeover which has included the creation of a new ‘airport’ waiting area.
The agency’s new look, inspired by different modes of transport, includes tables shaped like aircraft wings, portholes on the wall next to desks, to give the illusion of looking out to sea, and LED signs that say ‘lounge’ and ‘departures’ hanging from the ceiling.
The agency has tea and coffee facilities available, positioned on top of a cupboard designed to look like an aircraft trolley, while a new space for quick drop-ins has also been created in store as well as a wall mural resembling large airport windows.
Louth is the first branch to be revamped as part of an annual plan by the society to refresh 40 Lincolnshire Co-op trading outlets, which include food stores and post offices, costing £5 million each year.
Branch manager Rachael Bilcliffe said: “The whole team loves the new look, and we have had some fantastic feedback from our wonderful customers, who love how modern and fresh the space feels.
“One big difference is the waiting area, which is reminiscent of an airport lounge, and allows our customers to enjoy freshly brewed coffee and watch inspiring travel footage on the TV.”
The branch is hosting a drop-in event for customers on September 27 to give locals the chance to look around the store, with prosecco on arrival, and is offering customers £50 off per booking per person and the opportunity to win £250.
