Liverpool Airport achieves record August passenger throughput

Liverpool John Lennon Airport reported a record August as it declared its busiest summer.

The latest figures beat the previous monthly record set last year. 

Passenger throughput last month was up by 6% year on year to more than 650,000.

More than 4,000 flights operated to 80 destinations in 25 countries, with seven of the top 10 busiest routes being to summer sun destinations.

However, Dublin was the busiest route, with Alicante, Palma, Malaga and Faro the top southern Europe destinations.

A spokesperson said: “This is a further milestone for the airport and achieved despite 2026 being a challenging year so far for the aviation industry. 

“As well as continuing to increase passenger numbers, everyone here has been working hard over the summer to ensure that our passengers continue to have a great experience too, continuing to give the faster, easier, friendlier journey through the airport that we are renowned for.”
