Lufthansa increases profit forecasts

GERMAN airline Lufthansa has predicted an increase in its profit forecast for the year by 40%.

The announcement comes as Lufthansa releases is third quarter results, between January and September 30.

Highlights of the results show:

* Nine month operating result of £478 million

* An increase in passenger numbers of 7.5% to 35.5 million

* Turnover increased by 20.2% to £6.5 billion
