The founding marketing chief behind the rise of Comparethemarket.com is joining Fred Olsen Cruise Lines.
Mark Vile takes up the position of chief marketing officer as part of the cruise company’s senior leadership team on November 22.
He and his team at price comparison site Comparethemarket.com created the Meerkat brand platform, redefining customer engagement through initiatives such as Meerkat Movies, Meerkat Meals and AutoSergei.
Vile succeeds Sonia Holman, who previously held the role of e-commerce & marketing director and has left the business.
He brings more than two decades of experience at BGL Group, Thomas Cook, where he was behind the Thomas Cook Holidays direct to consumer proposition, and the Post Office.
The line said: “Mark has demonstrated how creativity, data, and customer insight can combine to deliver transformative business growth.”
Vile, who spent more than 18 years at Comparethemarket.com, said: “I’m delighted to be joining Fred Olsen Cruise Lines, a brand with such rich heritage, loyal guests and long-standing trade partnerships.

He will report directly to chief executive Samantha Stimpson, who said:“We are excited to welcome Mark to the team.
"His proven ability to build powerful, emotionally resonant brands and deliver data-driven growth will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen Fred. Olsen’s connection with our guests and expand our reach.
"Mark’s creativity, leadership and track record of innovation make him a fantastic addition to our executive team.”
