Flexible Autos’ Melanie Thom reverses decision to start homeworking business

Flexible Autos’ sales and marketing director Melanie Thom has reversed her decision to set up as a homeworker in addition to her full-time role at the car hire specialist.

Last week, she announced that she had joined homeworking agency Inspire as an Independent Travel Associate (ITA).

In a statement on Tuesday (June 23), she apologised for the decision, adding: “Recently, I explored the possibility of assisting friends, family and personal contacts with their travel arrangements through Homeworking By Inspire.

“At the time, I naively failed to appreciate that this could be perceived as a conflict of interest with my role at Flexible Autos and importantly with the loyal travel agent partners who are at the heart of our business.

“As soon as I recognised the potential implications, I took immediate steps to rectify the situation and have completely withdrawn from any involvement.

“I can confirm that I will not be undertaking any travel booking activities or any secondary business interests that could conflict with my responsibilities at Flexible Autos.

“I would also like to make it clear that my decision to withdraw is in no way a reflection on Homeworking By Inspire, or the people involved. They were welcoming, supportive, and professional throughout, I am grateful for their understanding.

“My professional loyalty and commitment remain 100% with Flexible Autos and its highly valued agency network. I fully recognise the importance of maintaining the trust of our travel agent partners and upholding the standards expected of my position.

“I apologise once again for this lapse in judgement and for any concern it may have caused. I remain fully committed to supporting Flexible Autos and its agency partners moving forward.”
