nats denies administration reports

NATIONAL Air Traffic services has denied reports it is on the verge of being placed in administration.

A spokesman for Nats, the part privatised air traffic control system, admitted it had faced difficulties following the September 11 terrorist attacks but its financial backers are happy with cost cutting measures put in place. These have included voluntary redundancies and asking the Civil Aviation Authority to re-examine the way Nats is financed.

Newspaper reports had suggested that several banks backing Nats were going to call in its £1.46 billion debt facility.

“There is no question of us going into administration,” the spokesman said.
