Norwegian Cruise Line is revamping its Bahamas private island ahead of an anticipated one million passenger arrivals this year.
A new pier at Great Stirrup Cay will help handle calls by 17 ships throughout 2026.
Enhancements include a 1.4-acre pool area - larger than two Olympic-sized swimming pools combined.
A new Vibe Shore Club is accessible by an all-day pass and offers an adults-only retreat with private cabanas and a private bar.
Additional enhancements include Splash Harbour – a complimentary kids splash pad close to the pool - a new welcome centre and a tram system across the island.
A waterpark featuring 19 slides is due to open in the summer. Great Tides Waterpark will include high-speed racing slides and a Tidal Tower with eight waterslides
Selected rides will incorporate conveyor belts to carry rafts to the top, eliminating the need for holidaymakers to bring them up themselves.
The waterpark will also include a nearly 800-foot dynamic river, a 9,000-square-foot splash zone for children, and Cliffside Cove where passengers can find NCL claims as the industry’s first cliffside jumps and racer slides.
Ships scheduled to call at Great Stirrup Cay include new-build Norwegian Luna which will sail seven-day Caribbean itineraries from Florida between April and October alongside Norwegian Aqua on an itinerary also covering the Dominican Republic, US Virgin Islands and British Virgin Islands.
Harry Sommer, president and chief executive of parent company Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, said: ”Great Stirrup Cay has always been a favourite for our guests, and these new enhancements make it even easier for guests to trade the winter weather for the warm tropics and enjoy an ’Escape to the Great Life’.
"With the fun versatility of Great Life Lagoon, and family-friendly spots like Splash Harbour, we’ve created an island where everyone can unwind, play and make lasting memories.
“This transformation is all about offering premium experiences and unparalleled guest services to our guests and giving them the freedom and flexibility to enjoy their vacation their way.
“I cannot wait until we unveil even greater guest experiences with Great Tides Waterpark."
