New Aer Lingus route provides Scottish Highlands connection

Inverness is gaining new flights to Dublin timed to connect to transatlantic services.

Aer Lingus Regional, operated by Emerald Airlines, is to serve the route twice a week on Thursdays and Sundays from May 21.

The summer seasonal schedule from the Scottish Highlands airport has been timed to offer onward connectivity via the Irish capital to Aer Lingus transatlantic services to New York (JFK) and Boston.

The new service is the first to be offered by Aer Lingus from Inverness.

The route was last operated by Loganair but ended in January 2024.

Inverness Airport manager Dan Mason said: “It is exciting to see the return of direct flights between Inverness and Dublin, restoring a route that has been missed by passengers across the Highlands and Islands.

"This service not only reconnects the region with Ireland’s capital but it also provides onward access to North America via Aer Lingus transatlantic flights, including New York and Boston, with convenient connection times through Dublin.

"Welcoming Aer Lingus to Inverness for the first time is a positive step for regional connectivity and passenger choice, and we are thrilled to work with the airline as the route launches and develops.”

Emerald Airlines head of commercial Ian Lough added: “We are delighted to be commencing this new connection to Dublin and have no doubt it will be a popular one.
