Former Baldwins Travel managing director Nick Marks has been hired by technology specialist Dolphin Dynamics as the firm’s product ambassador as it prepares to roll out an updated platform.
The company has created a redesigned front end of its Dolphin travel platform, which is used by a range of agencies and tour operators including Dawson & Sanderson, USAirtours, Carrier and Oasis Travel.
Dolphin Dynamics described Marks as a long-time user of the Dolphin platform and called him the “perfect” candidate to tell the industry about the latest product.
Chuck Richardson, managing director of Dolphin Dynamics, said: “Nick’s industry experience, relationships and long history as a Dolphin customer make him the perfect ambassador to help spread the word about our breakthrough user interface. He knows what travel businesses need and he’s not afraid to say what works and what doesn’t.”
The company, which said the new product reflects several years of “substantial R&D investment”, claimed the redesigned front end will reduce the time and effort required for numerous routine tasks by as much as 80%.
It said it will also minimise the time spent loading and managing bookings and cut sales consultants’ training time by more than a third.
Early feedback from preview customers has been “overwhelmingly positive”, with the company now preparing to showcase the product to the wider travel industry.
Marks would lead the publicity effort, Dolphin Dynamics said, with his appointment in recognition of his “deep industry knowledge, hands-on experience with the platform and a reputation for straight-talking expertise”.
Marks said: “I’ve worked with Dolphin Dynamics for years and know first-hand their product and service are second to none.
“The new front end makes their already market defining system even quicker and easier to use.
“At a time when growing headcount is more costly than ever, Dolphin’s automation delivers real, measurable efficiency gains which I believe could benefit almost every travel business.
“I’m proud to represent Dolphin as their product ambassador and help bring this innovation to more companies across the industry.”
Baldwins Travel was wound up in July.
