Oasis Travel raises more than £12,200 with charity cycle ride

Oasis Travel has raised more than £12,200 after taking part in the latest Pedal The Periphery, a 48-hour cycling fundraiser for the Northern Ireland Pancreatic Cancer charity (NIPANC).

It was the third year in a row that the agency has taken part in the endurance challenge, which saw teams ride non-stop for 480 miles around Northern Ireland in a relay format last weekend (June 5-7).

This year’s team of 24 was the biggest yet as the agency aims to make its fundraising “bigger and more impactful than ever”.

Scott McCabe, managing director at Oasis Travel, said the total raised so far was “immense”.

“The weekend was very challenging but very rewarding,” he said.

“This event is one of the few things in life that actually gets better with time.

“Each year we show up with more people, more interest and renewed energy to channel all of our efforts towards raising funds and awareness for NIPANC.

“The weather wasn’t on our side and the conditions were difficult, but we proved to ourselves that we can battle through and do hard things.”

The agency had already raised more than £25,000 for NIPANC after taking part in the 2024 and 2025 events.

The Oasis Travel colleagues joined the challenge in memory of Gary Corkin, the agency’s former finance director, who died of the illness in 2020. He was the brother of founder and creative director Sandra Corkin and uncle to Scott McCabe, Sandra’s son.

They were also cycling in memory of colleagues’ other friends and family who have also died of the disease.

Furthermore, McCabe joined the board of the NIPANC charity earlier this year.
