Portugal flags food safety

UK-owned food safety specialist Cristal International has established a new operation and office in Portugal to aid the country's food hygiene drive.

 

The move follows the Portuguese government's bid to establish a regulatory authority enforcing a law passed in 1998, requiring hotels and restaurants to put a food safety risk-management system in place.

 

The Federation of Tour Operators, which worked with Cristal in the Dominican Republic, welcomed the company's new move.
