Premier Travel has kicked off its 90th anniversary celebrations with a 15-mile walk from Royston to Cambridge.
The hike, completed by a team of 10 including staff and key supplier partners, marks the first milestone in the agency’s challenge to cover 90 miles during its milestone year.
The team set off from Royston at 9am before arriving in Cambridge at 2pm, with the route retracing one of Premier Travel’s original 1936 bus routes. It was chosen as a nod to the company’s heritage.
This training walk forms part of a wider commitment by Premier Travel to complete 90 miles throughout the year, building up to their participation in the 26-mile London Bridges Walk on May 23.
The challenge will raise funds for the Veronica Claxton Memorial Fund in support of Young Lives vs Cancer, a cause which Premier Travel said is close to its hearts.
The Royston to Cambridge walk was supported by key supplier partners including Jet2holidays, Typically Holidays and Gold Medal.
Following the walk, Premier Travel hosted a thank you event for suppliers at Tivoli in Cambridge, bringing together partners and Premier Travel branch managers, featuring drinks, food and networking.
Premier Travel also gifted suppliers a curated hamper filled with locally sourced Cambridge produce.
Paul Waters, director of Premier Travel Group, said: “Celebrating 90 years of Premier Travel is a huge milestone for us, and we wanted to mark it in a way that truly reflects who we are – our heritage, our people and our partnerships.
“Walking one of our original routes was incredibly special, and having our supplier partners alongside us made it even more meaningful. This is just the beginning of our 90-mile challenge, and we’re proud to be supporting such an important cause in Young Lives vs Cancer along the way.”
