Ryanair adds 200,000 Glasgow seats with summer expansion

A new domestic route between Glasgow and Stansted has been introduced by Ryanair.

The no-frills carrier has also added flights between the Scottish airport and Warsaw with the start of the summer schedule.

The double-daily Stansted service strengthens Glasgow’s access to the capital, adding to the airport’s choice of flights to London’s major airports.

The new routes form part of Ryanair’s expanded Glasgow summer schedule, operating more than 100 flights a week across eight routes.

An additional 200,000 seats bring the total up to 600,000, representing 50% growth compared with last summer.

Jonathan Ford, portfolio manager at Glasgow Airport owner AGS Airports, said: “It’s fantastic to see Ryanair’s new services to London Stansted and Warsaw take off today.

“The double-daily Stansted route offers even more flexibility for business and leisure travellers heading to and from England’s innovation corridor, while Warsaw provides a valuable new link that expands the international connectivity available to our passengers.

“These launches mark the start of what will be a record summer for Ryanair at Glasgow, and we look forward to welcoming even more travellers through our doors.”

Meanwhile, easyJet started a new service on Sundays and Wednesdays from Glasgow to Lisbon, coupled with packages to the Portuguese capital by easyJet holidays. One-way fares start at £39.99 and three-night packages at £234 per person.
