A Scottish travel agent has returned to the Norwegian fjords with P&O Cruises to marry her partner a year after he proposed during a similar voyage.
Greenock-based Travel Counsellors agent Gillian McBryde, née Baynes, got engaged on a beach in Flåm in 2025 during a P&O Cruises sailing.
McBryde and now-husband Kris returned to the region on Iona in July to exchange their vows.
McBryde has reached Gold Status with Travel Counsellors, an indication of being one of the agency network’s top sales performers, and her husband has joined the business part-time to help support growing demand.
P&O Cruises offers commitment ceremonies, engagements and vow renewals across all seven ships and its first ceremony on shore in Barbados is scheduled to take place in early 2027.
McBryde said: “Returning to the fjords for our wedding week felt incredibly special.
“From the Weddings at Sea team to the crew on board, everyone played a part in making our wedding day everything we had dreamed of. We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful way to begin our married life together.”
P&O Cruises associate vice-president of sales and distribution, Ruth Venn, said: “Travel agents play such an important role in helping customers plan memorable holidays and some of life’s biggest moments, so we love it when they choose P&O Cruises for their own.
“We’re delighted that Gillian and Kris celebrated their wedding with us, and it’s fantastic to hear how our teams helped make their special day everything they’d hoped for. We’d like to wish them every happiness for the future.”
