Scottish airport adds winter route to northern Norway

A new connection between Scotland and northern Norway is being introduced for the winter.

Norwegian is starting a twice-weekly service between Glasgow and Tromso, 350km north of the Arctic Circle.

Flights start on December 11 and will run on Mondays and Fridays to enable weekend breaks.

Chris Tibbett, executive director – commercial aviation & marketing for Glasgow Airport owner AGS Airports, said: "Tromso has become one of Europe’s most sought-after winter destinations, renowned for its spectacular Arctic landscapes, Northern Lights experiences and unique outdoor adventures.

“This new route will make it easier than ever for travellers from across Scotland to experience everything the region has to offer.”

Norwegian chief commercial officer  Magnus Thome Maursund said: "This new route between Glasgow and Tromso strengthens the connection between Scotland and northern Norway.

"We’re seeing growing interest from Scottish travellers looking for authentic Arctic winter experiences, for witnessing the Northern Lights to whale watching and exploring the stunning landscapes of Northern Norway. This new service makes those experiences more accessible than ever."
