Singapore Airlines goes double daily from Gatwick

Singapore Airlines is raising frequency from Gatwick to a double daily service over the summer.

The expanded schedule runs until August 29 before resuming again from October 25.

The service will revert to three flights a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays between September 1 and October 24 to give up to 10 departures a week.

The additional summer capacity offers more connectivity to destinations such as Bali, Thailand, New Zealand and seven gateways in Australia.

SIA deploys three-class Airbus A350-900 on the route with 253 seats - 42 in business class, 24 in premium economy and 187 in economy.

The double daily Gatwick service complements the airline’s existing four daily flights from Heathrow and five-times weekly flights from Manchester.

SIA will provide up to 45 direct flights a week from the UK to Singapore this summer, more than any other carrier departing from the region, according to the airline.

The Gatwick service started two years ago with five flights a week, rising to a daily service nine months later.

UK & Ireland general manager Mohamed Rafi Mar said: “We’re excited to launch our double daily service from London Gatwick this summer, offering customers more choice of flights to Singapore and seamless connections from our hub at Changi Airport.”
