Co-create a wellness experience in this tranquil Baltic destination

Lush pine forests, a majestic coastline and sparkling lakes: Lithuania’s landscape is a mosaic of natural marvels. When combined with traditional healing treatments, these untouched natural backdrops become the perfect setting for a wellness getaway.

Whether it’s finding seclusion in nature or enjoying a Lithuanian spa, one thing is guaranteed – visitors will leave feeling both inspired and recharged. The country has recently revamped its tourism strategy, so there has never been a better time to book a restful retreat.

Natural treatment
Tranquillity isn’t hard to find in Lithuania – more than 30% of the country is covered in sprawling woodland, peppered with meandering trails.

Set off on a hike or bike ride for some mindfulness or to get even closer to nature, visitors can opt for a barefoot walk on one of the special trails at Kneipp Gardens in Birštonas. To rest and recharge, the many beaches or lakeshores offer the perfect spot.

One of Lithuania’s must-visit beaches is along the Palanga coast in the northwest, where rolling sandy dunes meet the verdant Birute Park. What’s more, the site matches its levels of beauty with that of its environmental responsibility, having been awarded Blue Flag status every year since 2003.

Seaside spas
Lithuania has a long history of spa traditions, and nature plays a big role in the treatments on offer. The gemstone amber has been nicknamed ‘Lithuanian gold’ and is used in oils and incenses across the country, including in the world’s first natural amber sauna.

Just outside Palanga, the Atostogų Parkas spa boasts a sauna constructed entirely of natural Baltic amber, which, with the help of infrared rays, helps the body to relax and improves blood circulation.

Where to stay

One of the best choices for a wellness retreat in Lithuania is Druskininkai in the south, the country’s oldest and largest spa town.

Visitors to Druskininkai will find plenty to help them recharge, from the towering pine trees and relaxing atmosphere to therapeutic treatments fuelled by the mineral water springs and visiting one of the many spas.
