Thai Tsunami Recovery Plan Unveiled

MORE than 100 Thai hoteliers attended a travel forum organised by Travel Weekly and the Tourism Authority of Thailand to discuss the destination’s future.

The forum – What Now For Thailand? – was held at the Sheraton Grande Laguna in Phuket and debated issues facing tourism for the Andaman Coast following the tsunami.

A government tourism official outlined plans for a four pronged Andaman recovery programme up to 2010.

The plan covers the short and long-term rebuilding of the worst affected regions, including Phuket, Krabi and Phan-Nga.

Laguna Resorts and Hotels Director of destination marketing Debbie Bionysius said “It makes us feel so great the calibre of travel industry people Travel Weekly and TAT have brought here”.
