THOMSON is planning to increase high street profitability by giving shop staff more autonomy in running their businesses. TUI UK commercial director Derek Jones said by the end of the summer he hoped to introduce a daily messaging system detailing everything from revenue raised to the levels of footfall.
By relating how much of each product is being sold, Jones believes managers will be able to refine their business and grow it.
He said: "I want the shop staff and the managers to have much more ownership of the profitability of their own shops.”
He added he hoped the move enable Thomson to capitalise on a high street "renaissance” which is seeing increased levels of people visiting shops.
