Titan Travel to return to China after eight years

Titan Travel is returning to China after an eight-year gap by introducing a 17-day escorted tour.

The Grand Dynasties and Yangtze River Cruise, said to be “selling fast”, is described as offering a combination of the “ultra-modern” and the ancient. Departures will begin in March next year.

Andrea Jones, senior sales manager at Titan Travel, said: “Customers clearly share our excitement about returning to China, with this new tour proving so popular we’re already adding six additional departures.”

The tour begins with four days in Shanghai, including visits to the Jade Buddha Temple, Nanjing Road and the ancient water town of Zhujiajiao. There is also an evening cruise on the Huangpu River.

Travellers then take a high-speed train to Yichang for a four-day Yangtze River cruise taking in the Three Gorges Dam and Xiling Gorge aboard Victoria Isabella or Victoria Sabrina. 

They will then visit the ‘Mountain City’ of Chongqing, as well as Chengdu and Xi’An, the latter being home to the Terracotta Army – travellers will visit a workshop to see craftspeople recreate the figures and have a chance to make their own. They will also learn how to make traditional dumplings.

The last stop on the itinerary is Beijing, where highlights include the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, a traditional tea ceremony and the Great Wall of China.

Jones said: “The product team worked hard to curate an unforgettable itinerary that really showcases China’s many contrasts, with some unique and Titan-exclusive experiences added for good measure.”
