Not in the Guidebooks achieves B Corp status

Experiential and sustainable travel specialist Not in the Guidebooks has achieved B Corp certification.

Organisations must meet certain rigorous standards based on societal impact, environmental performance and transparency in order to receive the accreditation.

B Corp is seen as most globally recognised and validated environmental certification in the world, with only 8,254 recognised businesses from 162 industries in 96 countries achieving the status.

The certification comes six months after the company gained Travelife accreditation.

Not in the Guidebooks founder and chief executive Carol Savage said: “It’s an amazing accolade for the business that we have been B Corp certified.

“We started Not in the Guidebooks four years ago with the ambition to make it a travel company with a difference, one that delivers the best holidays with the best experiences whilst supporting local communities, and this certification completely legitimises what we are creating for our stakeholders, including our customers and trade partners.”

The B Corp movement is based around inspiring businesses to be committed to improving society and protecting the environment.

“For our trade partners, it means that they can further rely on us to deliver fantastic sustainable holidays on their behalf. As more and more UK consumers look to take more experiential, immersive and sustainable travel experiences, we want to be the ‘go to’ for agents,” Savage added.

“We will continue to keep our trade partners abreast of information around sustainable travel, helping them to easily access what’s important for them to know and helping them to see what more they can do to create a positive change in the travel industry, and also how they can support their customers looking to do their bit too.”

She said: “Companies that are recognised globally with B Corp are organisations that don’t simply talk about sustainability but have been through a rigorous auditing process to ensure that they are taking measurable, practical steps towards the goal of protecting the planet and supporting communities.

“We are a small team at Not in the Guidebooks, and my thanks go to them for their unwavering support in helping us achieve this significant goal.

“Their hard work and determination to get us this certification, which has been a long and detailed process, demonstrates the spirit of the team and their commitment to ensuring that we can be the best at what we do in our sector.”
