Travel Counsellors has reported “increasingly strong performance” during peaks, notching up £68 million in sales by January 18.
The homeworking company said global sales are “building momentum day-on-day” with a five-day period last week where global revenue averaged £6 million per day.
Premium leisure sales meanwhile have tracked at double-digit growth over the past 28 days.
The trading backdrop coincides with the arrival of 11 new travel counsellors spanning leisure, luxury, cruise and corporate travel, who launched their businesses during the first week of January.
The new intake includes dedicated cruise specialists, which Travel Counsellors said “aligns with recent booking trends which show ocean and river cruise bookings up 28% year-on-year”.
Recent booking trends also highlight strong performance for travel to the US, Spain, Greece and the Middle East, the agency said, adding that booking behaviour “further indicates customers are increasingly trading up”.
Jim Eastwood, global sales director, said: “Trading over the start of peaks has been increasingly strong day-on-day, resulting in £68m in sales up to January 18.
“What’s particularly encouraging is that this growth continues to be driven by new customers seeking thoughtful, experience-led travel, and by repeat clients who value a close, personal relationship with their travel counsellor.
“Overall, our data shows that customers continue to prioritise travel, and they’re doing so with people they trust – with care, expertise and personal service remaining at the heart of how people choose to book, even during the busiest trading periods.”
Eastwood highlighted Travel Counsellors’ ‘We’re here for you’ campaign, which aims to support its agents through one of the busiest trading periods of the year.
