Trend strategist Robbie Hodges been added to the speaker line-up for Abta’s Travel Convention in Madeira (October 12-14).
Presenting for consumer trends firm TrendWatching, Hodges will “explore the new rules of consumer influence in an age of uncertainty”, said Abta.
“Drawing on a proprietary trend framework and global innovation database, he will reveal how shifts in behaviour, trust and expectations are creating opportunities for travel brands to help consumers move from uncertainty to confidence – and earn lasting loyalty as a result,” said the association.
It noted how AI, economic volatility and climate disruption are reshaping how consumers make decisions, adding: “Faced with growing complexity, people are increasingly seeking guidance, reassurance and control.”
Hodges will draw on more than a decade of experience analysing consumer behaviour, innovation and the future of travel.
He previously served as strategy lead at Globetrender, one of the world’s leading trend forecasting agencies, where he continues to collaborate on strategic projects.
Hodges began his career as a travel journalist and assistant digital editor for Suitcase Magazine and The Telegraph, and regularly writes for publications including Condé Nast Traveller and The Times.
Furthermore, he advises global brands on emerging trends, shifting consumer behaviours and new opportunities for innovation.
The 2026 Travel Convention will take place in partnership with easyJet holidays and will be hosted by VisitPortugal and Visit Madeira at the five-star Savoy Palace hotel in central Funchal.
The theme for the business sessions at this year’s event will be ‘Managing uncertainty with confidence’.
In addition to easyJet holidays, other supporters include headline partner Intrepid Travel and returning trade media partner Travel Weekly.
