Tui adds Zanzibar to winter programme amid long-haul demand

Tui is introducing direct flights to Zanzibar as the operator responds to growing demand for alternative long-haul winter-sun destinations.

The new route to the archipelago off the coast of Tanzania will run twice weekly from Gatwick in winter 2027-28 as part of a wider programme going on sale on July 2.

The operator believes Zanzibar offers a more affordable alternative to Indian Ocean favourites such as the Maldives and Mauritius.

Seven-night all-inclusive packages lead in at £1,615 per person staying at the Zanzibar Bay Resort departing on December 1, 2027.

Flights will operate on Wednesdays and Sundays from November 3, 2027, with the last outbound departure of the season on March 22, 2028.

Safaris will be paired with Zanzibar resort stays via short flights to neighbouring national parks Nyerere and Serengeti in East Africa.

Tui Hotels & Resorts currently operates eight hotels in Zanzibar, alongside partners including RIU and Jaz.

Zanzibar forms part of Tui’s wider winter 2027-28 programme, featuring more than 50 destinations and more than 2,000 hotels across short-haul and long-haul routes.

Free child places are available during school holidays at 60 hotels across the Balearics, Canaries, Cyprus, Egypt, Greece, mainland Spain, Tunisia and Turkey.
